Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar till smooth. Mix in the egg, salt, and vanilla. Keep blending till well-mixed.

Sift together the baking powder and flour right into the wet mixture. Fold until it turns into dough.

Split the dough into two chunks. Stir cocoa powder into one chunk until evenly mixed.

Use 1½ tablespoons of dough per cookie. Roll the dough into smooth balls, coat them as needed, then press your thumb lightly to create a dent.

Spoon jam or your chosen filling into the dents. Bake them at 355°F for 8 to 10 minutes. If adding chocolate on top, do it while cookies are still hot.
