Thumbprint Holiday Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 large egg.
02 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
03 - 1 cup softened unsalted butter.
04 - ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt.
05 - ½ cup packed brown sugar.
06 - ½ cup granulated sugar, for coating.
07 - ½ cup seedless jam for filling.
08 - 2 tablespoons dutch cocoa powder.
09 - ¼ cup white sugar.
10 - 1 teaspoon baking powder.
11 - 2 ½ cups plain all-purpose flour.

# Instructions:

01 - Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar till smooth. Mix in the egg, salt, and vanilla. Keep blending till well-mixed.
02 - Sift together the baking powder and flour right into the wet mixture. Fold until it turns into dough.
03 - Split the dough into two chunks. Stir cocoa powder into one chunk until evenly mixed.
04 - Use 1½ tablespoons of dough per cookie. Roll the dough into smooth balls, coat them as needed, then press your thumb lightly to create a dent.
05 - Spoon jam or your chosen filling into the dents. Bake them at 355°F for 8 to 10 minutes. If adding chocolate on top, do it while cookies are still hot.

# Notes:

01 - They’re best when baked the day you make the dough.
02 - Cookies turn hard if left in the oven too long.
03 - Put chocolate or other toppings on just after baking.
