# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 cup butter (unsalted), softened.
02 - 1/2 cup shortening with buttery flavor.
03 - 1 egg, at room temperature.
04 - 3 tablespoons buttermilk.
05 - 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar (distilled).
06 - 2 teaspoons red food dye.
07 - 2 1/4 cups plain flour.
08 - 1/4 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened.
09 - 1/4 teaspoon table salt.
10 - 1 cup powdered sugar.
11 - 1/4 cup melted butter (for dipping).
12 - 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted (for coating).

# Instructions:

01 - Beat shortening with butter until smooth and well mixed.
02 - Slowly add in egg, vinegar, buttermilk, vanilla, and food coloring, keeping the mixer on low.
03 - In another bowl, blend cocoa powder, salt, flour, and powdered sugar with a whisk.
04 - Add the dry ingredients bit by bit into the wet mixture. Once it comes together, let the dough chill for an hour in the fridge.
05 - Form tablespoon-sized balls of dough, spacing them out by 2 inches. Bake at 350°F for 12-14 minutes.
06 - While warm, dunk cookies in melted butter and roll them in powdered sugar. Let cool down, then coat in powdered sugar again.

# Notes:

01 - Keep dough cold to make shaping easier and avoid spreading.
02 - Stack in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers.
