Stir together the powdered sugar, light corn syrup, vanilla, and 5 tablespoons of milk until smooth.

Add a little milk at a time until the icing forms a ribbon that stays for 3-4 seconds. Divide off a third for your outlining.

Mix in more milk with the remaining icing until it settles back into the bowl quickly.

If you'd like, mix colors into both the outlined and filled icing recipes.

Draw an icing border first and then fill inside. Gaps? Just use a toothpick to fix them up.

Leave cookies out for 20-24 hours so everything dries fully before stacking.
