Christmas Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 1/2 cups flour (293g).
02 - A big egg.
03 - 1 cup (226g) of soft butter.
04 - 1 tsp vanilla flavoring.
05 - 1/2 tsp salt.
06 - 1 tsp almond essence.
07 - 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150g).

# Instructions:

01 - Turn the oven on to 350° to preheat.
02 - Whip the sugar, butter, and salt together until fluffy.
03 - Add in vanilla, almond essence, and egg. Don’t forget to scoop down the sides of the bowl.
04 - If you want color, now’s the time to mix in food dye.
05 - Slowly add in the flour and stir till it’s soft and smooth.
06 - Load dough into a cookie press and press them directly onto a clean, ungreased baking sheet.
07 - Toss some sprinkles on top now if desired.
08 - Pop the tray in the oven for 8 minutes till edges just turn a bit golden.
09 - Give them a few moments to cool, then gently move them to a wire rack to finish cooling.

# Notes:

01 - If you add sprinkles after baking, they won’t melt!
02 - Don’t use parchment paper—the cookies need the pan surface to stick.
03 - Gel food dyes give the brightest colors!
04 - Let them cool fully before decorating with icing.
05 - Keep a close watch while baking—they brown quickly.
