Fill up a big pot with salted water and bring it to a boil. Toss in the penne pasta. As it cooks, throw in the peas halfway through. Cook until it's just barely underdone following the package recommendation.

Heat up olive oil in a big pan over medium-high heat. Cook the onions and bacon slices together until the bacon crisps up without burning.

Drain the pasta and peas, then mix them into the pan with the bacon and onions. Turn the heat to medium and pour in the cream, stirring as you go. If needed, add a bit more cream.

Plate it up while it’s still steaming hot. Let everyone add their own cheese to taste.
