Best Apple Pie (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Two pie crusts, either store-bought or homemade.
02 - Eight large apples, sliced up to fill 10 cups.
03 - Half a cup of regular sugar.
04 - A quarter cup of plain flour.
05 - One tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
06 - One and a half teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
07 - A quarter teaspoon each of nutmeg and allspice.
08 - One beaten egg mixed with a tablespoon of milk for brushing.
09 - Optional: coarse sugar for sprinkling on top.

# Instructions:

01 - Stir together the apple slices with sugar. Toss in the flour, spices, and a splash of lemon juice. You can cook everything on the stove for five minutes if you'd like.
02 - Turn the oven on to 400°F. Lay your bottom crust in a pie dish and add the filling, warm or cooled. Slice the top crust into strips, weave a lattice, pinch the edges, cover with egg wash, and sprinkle sugar over it.
03 - Bake for 25 minutes at 400°F. Then drop the heat to 375°F, use a shield to protect the edges, and keep baking another 35-40 minutes. Let the pie cool down a full 3 hours before you cut it.
