Sugar Cookie Cutouts (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Plain flour, gently measured (2 1/4 cups/281g).
02 - Baking powder (1/2 teaspoon).
03 - Salt (1/4 teaspoon).
04 - Softened unsalted butter (3/4 cup/170g).
05 - White sugar (3/4 cup/150g).
06 - One large egg at room temp.
07 - Real vanilla extract (2 teaspoons).
08 - Almond flavoring (1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon, if you want).
09 - Choose from Royal Icing, Simple Glaze, or Cookie Buttercream to finish.
10 - Various sprinkles for topping.

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt until well mixed.
02 - Mix butter and sugar at high speed for about 3 minutes until fluffy and smooth. Toss in egg, vanilla, and almond extract if using, then beat another minute.
03 - Slowly blend dry mix into wet ingredients on low. If it feels too sticky, add another tablespoon of flour.
04 - Split dough in half, flatten each piece to 1/4-inch between parchment sheets. Put them on top of each other and chill for 1-2 hours.
05 - Use cookie cutters on the cold dough. Pop in a 350°F oven for 11-12 minutes until edges turn slightly brown.
06 - Let them sit for 5 minutes on the baking tray, then move to a cooling rack until totally cool before adding your favorite icing.

# Notes:

01 - You can freeze them undecorated or decorated for up to 3 months.
02 - You can keep the dough in your fridge for up to 2 days.
03 - Feel free to make twice as much for bigger batches.
