Crockpot Ziti Dinner (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 small jar (650ml) pasta sauce, about 2 1/2 cups.
02 - 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes.
03 - 2 cups of mozzarella, shredded.
04 - 1 finely chopped onion.
05 - 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt.
06 - 375 grams of penne or ziti pasta.
07 - 28-ounce can of diced tomatoes.
08 - 2 1/2 cups of chicken broth with reduced sodium.
09 - 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves.
10 - 1 teaspoon minced garlic.
11 - 1 pound of ground beef.

# Instructions:

01 - Brown the chopped onion and ground beef together. Add the garlic and herbs, cook for a minute.
02 - Stir the tomatoes, broth, meat blend, and pasta sauce into a slow cooker (4 quarts or more).
03 - Let it simmer on high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours.
04 - Set to high, toss in pasta, and combine everything. Let it cook another 15 to 30 minutes.
05 - Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and cover for 3-5 minutes until melted.

# Notes:

01 - Skipping the browning step saves some time.
02 - Ground meat alternatives work just fine.
03 - The pasta cooks straight in the sauce.
04 - Check the pasta at the 15-minute mark.
