Set your oven to 425F/220C or switch the broiler to high. Place the rack about 12 inches/30cm away from the heat source.

Put the beans on the baking tray. Add a tablespoon of oil along with garlic, pepper, and salt. Toss around so they’re well coated.

Spread the beans out in even rows on the tray. Scooch them together so they’re close.

Top the beans with panko crumbs and parmesan. Lightly drizzle any leftover oil across the top.

Pop them in the oven for about 15 minutes, or broil for 8 minutes, until the parmesan is golden and crisp.

Move the beans to a serving dish with a spatula and enjoy right away.
